Last week Watermelon Birds flew to Bologna Children's Book Fair for the first out-of-Berlin experience. What a beautiful time it was! We gave mini-workshops, consulted illustrators' about their portfolios, intervened into public space of the book fair, ate Panna Cotta with strawberries, played midnight ping pong among the arcs of the city, and became known as underground watermelon birds movement. We also met lots of illustrators, editors, book creators, and other nice people. Thank you everyone who came and helped us to create a little bit of forest from the glass, cement, apples, pencils, ink, paper, fingers, hands, feet, body contours and your flying imaginations. Here are a few impressions from the birds' view. Stay tuned for our upcoming adventures where we will be happy to meet you!
Our second session of miniworkshops took place again close to the water. An old DDR police boat station converted into a night club and reborn as a house project.
The groups were working intensely and very creatively.
We realized that these were just a little aperitive for the participants and we hope to bring very soon longer workshops. Thanks a lot for coming!
Today is 18th of March, and we finally bought the domain and say hello to the world.
The workshop 'Creativity takes Courage' happened in the old Berlin swimming pool reconverted into an alternative project for artist and events. It was part of Diorama, an action where many other workshops and handmade markets occurred.
The session mixed body, movement and painting exercises. We enjoyed the painting fight circle the most!
